Call me crazy, but I’m becoming a big fan of morning engagement sessions! This session in Uptown Charlotte was no different. It can be a bit trickier to make sure the light isn’t too harsh, and I was hoping Uptown wouldn’t be too busy in the morning. But there’s just something about starting my day off turning tricky light into beautiful light and getting to photograph a beautiful couple that makes me happy. Nick and Liddy were the sweetest people to do this session with!
First off, they’re high school sweethearts. And maybe it’s because my parents are high school sweethearts, but I have such a soft spot for this! Also, the foundation of their relationship is a Mexican restaurant, and I feel that on a spiritual level (tacos are my love language). They braved the cold and made it look cute. It was definitely a chilly start to the morning, but they used it as the best excuse to cuddle up cute and close. Nick and Liddy are just also naturally SO good at being photographed! I seriously did not believe them when they told me they’d never done this before. I’d legitimately think something, and they would just do it, it was crazy. Liddy used to be a dancer, so I think everything she did looked so beautiful and graceful, ha!
Another dream come true during this shoot was getting to shoot at the DA’s office in Charlotte. I know that sounds random. But this building is beautiful! With the stone steps and white columns, it’s a building that reminds me of DC- and I love it! It provides such unique ways to get shots, the white is absolutely beautiful, and the architecture is so fun to play with! Charlotte is such a new and modern city, which is great. But it’s fun having a building that reminds of me older cities.
Nick and Liddy, thank you so much for trusting me with this special season of your life! I had a BLAST with you both! Thank you for braving the cold and early morning- it was more than worth it!
