Still a *little bit* on cloud nine from Will + Lyndsay’s Atalaya Castle engagement session. I loved finally getting to meet these two in person- after so many emails, it’s always like meeting up with friends! But as a photographer, I also so appreciated getting to take photos somewhere outside of my normal. It helps boost my creativity, and the travel and adventerous side of me LOVES getting to go somewhere new!
When we first started talking about a location for this session, Lyndsay mentioned that she’d love to have photos with Spanish moss. Unfortunately, we’re not lucky enough to have that here in Charlotte. I suggested Charleston or a beach location further south. Lyndsay’s grandma has a house by Atalaya, so she suggested that. Immediately I looked it up, and I could not email her back fast enough- YES PLEASE.
It ended up being a fairly cold and windy day, but Will and Lyndsay were SUCH troopers. My friend Summer and I got there early to scout around, and there were so many beautiful options! Atalaya is an old castle, and you can go in throughout the maze like hallways and rooms. Then there are two courtyards filled with palm trees, which is where we decided to start the shoot. I loved the palm trees and architecture were so fun and different, I loved shooting in there!
From there we moved across the street to a tree lined walkway, which was really beautiful. We got a little bit of Spanish moss for Lyndsay here, too! And we finished up at the beach- I loved how much variety there was within short distances at this location! The beach was SO windy, but again, Will and Lyndsay are troopers, and these were some of my favorite photos! I’m so excited for their wedding in May!
